Defect for case closed in my favour?

Please can someone help or offer an explanation for my situation.  A buyer opened an item not received case against me.  I responded immediately pointing out they had the tracking number and that the RM website indicated someone with their surname had signed for the item several days ago.  They asked for evidence of the signature, again I pointed them to the RM website and said I was confused.  They said they would look into it.  After a couple of days I heard nothing more so I asked if they had found the item and if they had, could they close the case.  They didn’t respond to me but they did close the case themselves.  I now have a defect against me for this.  I hoped it would go away as it was a mistake but it’s still there!  Can someone explain what I’ve done wrong and why I’ve got the defect please?  Many thanks.
